Amendment 2

The NGA Office of Global Navigation, Maritime Domain is in the process of developing a new version of World Vector Shoreline (WVS®) and in support of this effort has acquired a satellite derived Global Shoreline Data set. This new Global Shoreline Data set is an approximation of the High Water Line; it is NOT a Mean High Water Line, since the source data have not been tide coordinated. Regions 2, 3, and part of 10 were updated with post December 2004 imagery, so as to update the region after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Work to fill in gaps in the prototype Global Shoreline Data set, particularly cloud cover gaps, has now been completed. Continuous shoreline data, approximately between 60 degrees north and 56 degrees south, are being made available.

IMPORTANT: The Global Shoreline Data set continues to be reviewed and updated since the original LANDSAT data were acquired. These data are not perfect in that changes such as land reclamation may have occurred since the original NGA compilation. These data are not intended for safety of navigation products and do not necessarily reflect recognition of the political status of an area by the coastal nations affected or by the United States Government. Region 29 shoreline is not available and the small sliver of Region 13 on the right side of the Region Diagram has no shoreline.

WVSPLUS® база данных состоит из шести библиотек .
Каждая библиотека содержит :
Countries/Coastlines/Oceans (COC) coverage including both line and area features such as coastlines,
political boundary lines and other lines of separation,
administrative areas,
and oceans.

Each library also contains the following reference coverages: library reference (LIBREF), which gives an overview of the library; tile reference (TILEREF), which defines the tiling scheme for each library; and names placement (GAZETTE), which contains point features that represent the approximate centroid of each locality in the WVSPLUS database. The maritime boundaries (MAB) and maritime boundaries supplemental (MBS) coverages contain maritime claims for each country as derived from the Maritime Claims Reference Manual, DOD 2005.1M, 2001. MAB and MBS are found only in the WVS250K library (1:250,000 scale). The bathymetry (BAT) coverage exists only in the WVS003M, WVS012M, and WVS040M libraries and contains depth contours and depth areas derived from the digital bathymetric database product. See the VPF World Vector Shoreline (WVSPLUS) Draft Specification (MIL-PRF-89012A dated August 24, 1999) for a detailed product definition, and the Vector Product Formal (VPF) Military Standard (MIL-STD-2407) for more descriptions of VPF.
Source Data: Digital Landmass Blanking (DLMB) data, which were derived primarily from the Joint Operations Graphics and coastal nautical charts produced by the predecessor agency, the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA). The source of bathymetric data is a digital bathymetric database (DBDB5), gridded bathymetry produced by comparing and integrating available bathymetric soundings with cartographic sources. DBDB5 contains gridded values at five-minute spacings and has a resolution equivalent to a 1:4,000,000 scale chart. The MAB and MBS coverages contain maritime claims for each country as derived from the Maritime Claims Reference Manual, DOD 2005.1M, 2001.

мне кажется или тут то ли 3 то ли 4 разных продукта, причем WVS и данные Eastview с жесткими ограничениями.

Не встречались ли упоминаемые исходные данные в VPF?

NOAA Medium Resolution Shoreline

Источник: здесь

Описание

Формат: ESRI shapefile format
Масштаб 1:70000
Выложена только территория: United States of America. Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, Puerto Rico

NOAA's Medium Resolution Digital Vector Shoreline is a high-quality, Geographic Information System-ready, general-use digital vector data set created by the Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) Division of NOAA's Office of Ocean Resources Conservation and Assessment. Compiled from hundreds of NOAA coast charts, this product comprises over 75,000 nautical miles of coastline (nearly 2.5 million vectices), representing the entire coterminous United States of America. Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, Puerto Rico, and all other interests and territories of the United States are not included in the collection.

Generally, 1:80,000 NOAA coast charts took precedence and were used when available. For areas where 1:80,000 charts were not readily available, charts with the next closest higher scale (e.g., 1:60,000) were used down to the highest scale available. Alternately, if higher scale charts were not available, charts of the closest lower scale (e.g., 1:100,000) were used down to the lowest scale. The digital shoreline for Florida was obtained from the state. This digital file was originally created from NOAA nautical charts and was not recreated by SEA. Generally, for these shoreline sections (EC80_06, GC80_05, and GC80_06), the highest scale charts available were used to digitize the shoreline. The resultant average mapping scale for the entire Medium Resolution Digital Vector Shoreline is approximately 1:70,000.

The product is designed for use by a broad audience and is available through this service. Potential users include government agencies, universities, research institutions, and individuals in the private sector. Digital files are available in ESRI shapefile format.

These digital geographic boundary files are available for download from this site. Please refer to the full documentation file prior to using these data.

www.marineregions.org
Marine Regions is created by merging information from the VLIMAR Marine Gazetteer and the MARBOUND database. These initiatives provide information on marine place names and on different marine and maritime boundaries, including the World Exclusive Economic Zones. The system defines different relations between the geographic objects (similar to, part of, adjacent to…) allowing the user to group joint geographic units and to create a hierarchical classification of different places. In order to preserve the identity of the marine geographic objects from the database, and to name and locate the geographic resources on the web, we maintain a persistent Marine Regions Geographic IDentifier, or the MRGID. The information is freely available and can be accessed through several web services which allow the user to have direct access to the geographic data, maps and metadata.

Marine Regions is initiated by the Flanders Marine Institute. With the launch of Marine Regions, we are also aiming at the establishment of an international editorial board, responsible for the content, quality control and promotion of Marine Regions. You can apply for membership by sending your contact details, interest and proposed contribution to info@marineregions.org
