когда подгружаем в слой с одним датумом шейп с другим, вылезает предупреждение, и можно ввести трансформацию
но похоже, кто-то поставил галочку "Don't warn me ever"
как отыграть это глупое решение назад? Арка 9.3

Summary
When editing data layers in a map where the feature classes are in more than one coordinate system, or when they are being projected on the fly, a warning will appear that states this is the case. It is possible to continue editing, but this may cause feature alignment and snapping problems. The warning dialog box has a check box labeled "Don't warn me again". If this box is checked, ArcMap will no longer give the warning. In order to show this message again, it is necessary to edit the registry.

Procedure
Restoring this dialog can be done using two methods:
* by using AdvancedArcMapSettings utility,
* by making changes into registry.
The first method is highly recommended as it is much safer.

AdvancedArcMapSettings tool is located in C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Utilities folder. Make sure ArcMap is closed before proceeding.
1. Double click on AdvancedArcMapSettings.exe.
2. Click on Miscellaneous tab.
3. There is a 'Warn when editing datasets with unmatched coordinate systems'check box in 'Working with data' section.
Second method involves editing the registry.

WARNING: The instructions below include making changes to essential parts of your operating system. It is recommended that you backup your operating system and files, including the registry, before proceeding. Consult with a qualified computer systems professional, if necessary.

ESRI cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions. Therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.

1. Close ArcMap if it is open.
2. Select Start > Run.
3. In the 'Open' text field, type regedit, and click OK.
4. Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > ESRI > ArcMap > Garcia > WarnSpatialRefMismatch
5. Change this setting to 1, or delete it, to restore the warning dialog box.

When this registry setting is set to 0, the dialog box is hidden.

6. Click 'OK' and exit the Registry Editor.

а у меня это на закладке TOC/DATA: Skip datum check если это то.

не помогает:( ставлю галочку, говорю Ок - загружает без спроса молча
в реестре вообще нет такого параметра
и да -это во вкладке TOC/Data

А если создать WarnSpatialRefMismatch с параметром 1? Причем попробовать параметр DWORD и STRING

dword создала, толку ноль. стринг ща попробую

Оно немного в другом месте реестра. Попробуйте, параметр есть, нужно только поменять на 0...

REG_DWORD: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\ArcMap\Settings\SkipDatumCheck
Description: This turns on (0) or off (1) the check that ArcMap makes when data is added to the map. The check reports when the reported datum of one or more data sources is missing or different than the display datum.

такого зверя у меня в реестре тоже нет:(
нашла как корректно трансформировать
в свойствах слоя выставляем систему координат, добавляем шейп с другим датумом и в свойcтвах же слоя задаем transformations
но упражнения с реестром продолжаем:)

посмотрел на EDN - значение должно быть DWORD. После ввода попробуйте перезагрузиться.
